David Hackworth (11 Nov. 1930 – 4 May 2005) was a US Army Colonel who had earned more than ninety individual and unit citations during his career. As a journalist, his work led him to investigate the inappropriate use of medals and devices by Admiral Mike Boorda, which allegedly drove the latter to commit suicide. He has also been credited for creating and leading Tiger Force, a Vietnam War unit that specialized in combating guerilla forces.
