Who was Alexander Graham Bell?
Alexander Graham Bell, born in Edinburgh, Scotland (March 3, 1847) and passed away in Nova Scotia, Canada (Aug 2, 1922)
Bell is most famous for his invention of the first practical telephone, the patent for which he received in 1876 from the US government.
His keen interest in science and engineering, however, has also led him to accomplish numerous and worthy innovations in various fields such as aeronautics, telecommunications, and eugenics. In 1881, Bell had also successfully invented the metal detector.
Bell had been born in a family with a deep-seated interest in elocution and speech.
When Bell was 12 years of age, his mother began losing her hearing, which prompted him to study acoustics. Since then, he would be greatly involved with the deaf community. Even his wife, Mabel Hubbard, suffered from hearing impairment.
