What Do You Know About Al Capone?
Alphonse Gabriel “Al” Capone, born in Brooklyn, New York (January 17, 1899) and died in Palm Island, Florida (January 25, 1947)
Capone was the leader of Chicago Outfit, a criminal organization, which approximately earned annual revenue amounting to $100M during the Prohibition Era mostly for selling liquor and managing prostitution and gambling establishments.
His business card, however, allegedly labeled him as a “used furniture dealer”.
Capone and his organization had been widely held responsible for St. Valentine Day Massacre in 1929, considered to be the most infamous mobster-related murder of the century.
He earned the nickname “Scarface” for the facial scars he had obtained during a bar fight.
Charges for income tax evasion, and not racketeering, had brought his mobster career to an end in 1931.
In contradiction to his violent history, Capone died of natural causes, particularly severe complications caused by syphilis, which he had contracted at an early age.
