Who Was Marie Curie?

Marie Curie, born in Warsaw, (November 7, 1867), died in Passy, France (July 4, 1934)

Marie Curie is the first woman to teach at the prestigious University of Paris.

Although she is best known for her work in radioactivity and her discovery, together with her husband Pierre Curie, of radium, Marie Curie is also credited for discovering the element polonium.

She is the first, and so far the only, person to receive two Nobel Prizes, the first one for her contribution to physics and the second for her contribution to chemistry.
In 1995, the remains of the Curies, which were then interred in a Sceaux cemetery, were relocated to the Paris Pantheon in recognition of their achievements.
